October 2018 Pack Meeting

We had our October Pack meeting on Friday October 5th, at the Congregational Church. It started with a fun slime making pre-meeting activity. Great job running the event,Sophie and Nikolas. The pack meeting was a busy night of acknowledgment of all the various achievements made by our cunscouts over the summer and in the month of September. We had a Bobcat ceremony for 3 of our new cubscouts,  Summer Camp awards, Summertime Scout awards, Beaver Day patch awards, New Scout awards, Recruiter patch awards, highest popcorn seller prize for the month of September, den adventure achievement awards, and the  new hiking program  awards.  We had 2 cubscouts who each received a walking stick for accruing over 20 miles of hiking in their time as cubscouts. We also welcomed our new den chief, Nikolas, who is a boy scout from Troop 107. Congratulations to all the scouts on all your achievements, and keep up the great work!

Our top popcorn seller, Ben, was given a task of putting all the squeezed out toothpaste back into its tube. Our cubmaster,  Mr. Shawn Tidd,  used this example to illustrate what it means when we say “a scout is trustworthy.”

“What we say and do is like the toothpaste. Once it is out there, it can not be taken back.” One must keep their word, and do the right thing.

Upcoming pack events in October include our next popcorn  Show and Sell at the Grafton Stop and Shop on Saturday, October 13, 9am-2pm, and a day outing for pack hike at Mount Monadnok, NH, on  Saturday, October 20. Our last popcorn Show and Sell at the Grafton Stop and Shop will be Saturday, October 27th,  9am-2pm.

September Highlights

20180929_092033Pack 107 had a fun filled start to the new scouting season. We had our recruitment night on Friday, September 7th, followed by the first pack meeting of the school year on Friday, September 14th. Throughout the month cubscouts were busy fundraising by selling popcorn to help support our pack activities. On September 15th, our pack went on a popcorn blitz at various neighborhoods where scout got to pair up and sell popcorn.  It was a great learning experience for those new to scout fundraising.

We had a Beaver Day camping weekend, September 21-23 at Treasure Valley Scout Reservation, in Rutland. It was the pack’s first camping event of the season. We had a great turn out on Beaver Day Saturday where our cubscouts and their families were involved in a half day of community service work, where we laid down mulch along the sides of the main road of the reservation. It was a lot of hard work, but fun memories were made in the process. We enjoyed a generous lunch provided by Treasure Valley to fuel us for a 3 mile hike in the afternoon, followed by den meetings. In this weekend alone, the cubscouts were able to complete all the requirements to earn upto 2 adventure awards.

On Saturday, September 29, our pack had their first popcorn show and sell of the season at Stop and Shop.

More fun events to come….Check out our calendar!

Pack 107 starts the new school year with a fun packed pack meeting

With school back in session and everyone back from summer vacations, Pack 107 welcomed the new school year with it’s first pack meeting yesterday. As a family scouting pack, we welcomed the addition of our new all girl dens and their den leaders to our pack family. We also welcomed new den leaders, assistant den leaders, and committee members who are scout parents who have stepped up to volunteer their time and talents. The atmosphere at the Congregational Church was electric with excitement of reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting new scout friends. Congratulations go out to Noah and Adeline on earning their Bobcat Award, and Noah for earning his Webelos Award. The pack has started a new hiking program where each scouts can earn hiking miles towards various level prizes. We are all excited for the all the activities planned in this new scouting year!  Welcome back everyone!!

Norcross Park Community Service

Today, we had our last summer community service at Norcross Park. The Scouts and leaders worked together to clean up trash, rake and sweep the basketball court, and give some much needed TLC to the front walkway. We even rescued two worms in the process! Great work Scouts and Scouters!

Thank you to those who came out to help!
