Syncing Your Smartphone Calendar with Scoutbook

A popular feature in Scoutbook is the ability to sync the Scoutbook calendar to your smartphone’s calendar. The instructions for Google/Android and Apple devices are detailed below:

Google/Android

If you use a Google/Android device you call follow these instructions:

1) Log into Scoutbook on a computer and navigate to the Scoutbook calendar
2) Directly above the “Upcoming Events” section look for “Pack 107 Subscribe”
3) Right-click / long press on the “Subscribe” link
4) Then select “Copy Link Address” – Do not click the link and download the ICS file
5) Browse to: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/r/settings
6) Click / Tap on ‘Add Calendar’ in the left-hand side of the screen to expand the menu tree
7) Click on “From URL”
8) Now paste the iCAL URL that was copied from ScoutBook.com into URL of Calendar field, leave the ‘Make the calendar publicly accessible’ unchecked for privacy reasons
9) Click on the ‘ADD CALENDAR’ link/button when complete
10) If you have successfully added the URL, you should now see the ScoutBook.com ICS link in the “Setting for other calendars” section of the menu tree
11) Switch from your computer to your Google/Android device
12) Open the google calendar app on your mobile device
13) Click on the 3 lines in the top left corner to open the menu
14) Scroll down and click on settings
15) Click on the calendar name (appears as Scoutbook Pack 107 / Scoutbook Pack 107 Rank Den #)
16) Click the flipbar to turn sync on (you can also change the color of the events here so they stand out in your calendar if you’d like)
17) Go back to the calendar, click on the 3 dots in the upper right corner and refresh to sync the calendar(s)
18) Go to your smartphone’s Calendar app and look for a Scouting event to confirm that everything is set up correctly.

Remember to repeat this process, in addition to the Pack calendar, for each of the Den calendars appropriate for the Scouts in your family.

Apple Devices

If you use an Apple device you can follow these instructions:

1) While on your Apple device and already logged into Scoutbook navigate to the Scoutbook calendar
2) Directly above the “Upcoming Events” section look for “Pack 107 Subscribe”
3) Tap the word “Subscribe” next to “Pack 107”
4) A new window will pop-up titled “Calendar Feed URL”
5) Tap and hold that URL link and select “Copy.”
6) On your phone, go to Settings -> Passwords & Accounts -> Add Account.
7) Tap “Other.”
8) Tap “Add Subscribed Calendar.”
9) In the “Server” field, tap and hold, and select “Paste,” to enter the Scoutbook URL.
10) Tap “Next.”
11) Click “Save”
12) Go to your smartphone’s Calendar app and look for a Scouting event to confirm that everything is set up correctly. (We love to keep you busy on most Friday night’s so that’s probably a good place to check first!)
